THAT'S A WRAP FOR CBL MEN AND THE WOMEN HIT THE HIGHWAY FOR THE SEMI-FINAL!

MEN The Sunraysia Petroleum Heat men finished of their 2021/2022 CBL season with a convincing win over 6th placed Swan Hill Flyers 89-66 on the weekend. The team went into the round without the leadership of Kyle Newey, Nicholas Matulic and Tarryn Shaddock, which left the game in the hands of the 19 and under players on the roster. And, all credit must go to the young guys, as they stepped up and played some quality basketball. All ten players hit the scoreboard with Archer Hammond 20pts, Ethan Deale 18pts and Dru Pilmore 16pts leading the way.

That's now a wrap for the men's team, finishing the season 7th on the ladder with a 3W/7L record.

WOMEN Round 8 Recap The pressure was on coming into the two game Round 8 for the Sunraysia Petroleum Heat Women, as, not only were they missing Lavinia Erskine and Olivia Knights, after losses in Rounds 6 & 7, the team found themselves dropping from 2nd to 5th and out of the finals race!


The first game of the weekend was a fight to finish against the Echuca Pirates, with the Heat holding on to take the W by just 3 points, 63-60. The Heat were well led by Alannah Morello 22pts and fill in player Alexandra Leng 15pts. The second game went a little easier for the girls running away by 28 points against the Swan Hill Flyers and firmly securing their place back at 3rd place on the ladder and heading into finals.


Semi-Finals Preview The Heat will hit the road courtesy of our program sponsor SIXT www.sixt.com.au this weekend for their 2 v 3 semi-final to take on the Maryborough Blazers. The Heat came up against the Blazers at the Hothouse in Round 3, which resulted in an 8-point win to the Heat. This time however, the girls will not only be facing the challenge of being on the road, but they will also be playing against an Association that has just been confirmed as the host of the North West conference Grand Finals for the CBL 2021/2022 season!


A huge challenge for the Heat this weekend, however, we know the girls will play hard and give it everything they've got to come away with the W.
